Brain Long follows the path of how this model came into production as the 230SL introduced in Geneva to motoring press. It was not the 300SL nor the 190SL but a new bread of Grand touring automobile with the first safety feathers by noted father of passive safetyBela Barenyi. Is a comfortable car to drive at speed from point A to B with out being Jared around in a cramped living space for driver and passenger.
There are many period pictures starting with the early Benz & Mercedes join afford, pictures of the 300SL Gullwing & Roadster and the 230SL, 250SL ,& 280SL and finally the R107 that replaces the Pagoda. Brain is a fabulous writer who like to capture his readers with boxes of in formation and the state of the world economy and changes.
This book is an essential part of any ones library who owns a Pagoda SL. Dozens of pages of information about colors and upholstery available at the time for each model , changes made during the production live of this automoobile and option codes that are the most incredible and hard to fine listed.
take my word I waited a year for this book having a 1968 280SL , it is now part of my library perhaps I should buy two. Some times these book go away and are hard to fine so purchase yours today, it is an easy read you will not put down. 10 stars!

A very complete and nicely compiled photographic timeline.Great and invaluable guide to the changes and nuances of the R113 from beginning to end.Fantastic collection of paint,interior,and option codes.A must-have for any "Pagoda" owner.
An exhaustive collection of information relevant to the W113 series. Pictures are of the authentic (original) vehicles and thus serve well for comparison buying for collectors of the vehicles.
If you own a Pagoda or are an enthusiast of them, you must buy this book. It has outstanding pictures and text and is laid out in a clean but artistic manner. The only small criticism is the use of "British-isms" and acronyms that are a bit hard to figure out for folks in the USA.
The pictures are excellent and make this book one to leave out as a "coffee table" display at home.
Don’t be fooled by the title of the book. If I wanted to add a book about Gullwings and 300SL’s and that era, I would have bought said book.
I would have returned it given the opportunity.
